I offer individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. As needed, I will involve family and loved ones in session in order to progress my clients toward their goals. My clients come to therapy to address a range of needs, including:
anxiety
college life
depression
school anxiety
trauma
transition periods
relational and family stress
Like most things in life, therapy does not embody a “one-size fits all” approach. Together, we will figure out what works best for you. In my work, I integrate several kinds of therapy to best help my clients. Below are some approaches that I tend to use to meet the needs of my clients.
Cognitive-behavioral Therapy involves identifying and challenging negative or distorted thought and behavior patterns and replacing them with healthier, more balanced alternatives.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy looks at our history and past experiences to help us understand the whys and hows of the way we became our current selves. Having awareness of the experiences that contributed to our current patterns is critical in healing.
Psychoeducation helps to develop knowledge surrounding conditions, symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments, which is imperative to helping clients better understand their experience and feel empowered to take action.
Self-care involves finding out what helps to recharge your batteries. Together, we can find what works best for you and challenge the guilt and negative feelings you may have about making time for you and the things that fuel you. In addition to practicing mindfulness and other activities, self-care also includes setting boundaries with people and settings that drain us and making room for those that fulfill us.
Solution-focused Therapy is helpful if you come to therapy with a specific goal (attain a job, move away from mom and dad, etc.). Together, we can identify your goals and harness your motivation to take steps to achieve them.
